모로코의 문화와 종교경관의 이해

모로코는 북부아프리카에 속해 있으면서 유럽 남부와 연결되는 마그레브(Maghreb) 지역에 위치한 이슬람국가이다. 본 연구는 모로코의 역사와 지리적 배경, 유네스코 문화유산 현황 및 문화와 종교경관 특징을 고찰하는데목적을 두었다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 모로코는 8세기 무어인에 의해 이슬람문화가 형성되었고, 여러 왕조를 거쳐 독특한 유적을 지닌 페스, 마라케시, 라바트 등 역사도시를 만들어냈다. 둘째, 모로코는 마그레브 문화의 중심국가로서 유네스코 세계유산목록이 총 9점에 달하며, 세계문화유산의 완전성, 진정성, 탁월한 보편적 가치를 지닌뚜렷한 문화와 종교경관을 갖고 있다. 셋째, 모로코의 고대도시는 구시가지를 ‘메디나’ 라고 하며, 이곳 메디나는 이슬람문화관련 도시유적이 잘 보존되어 있다. 넷째, 주요 도시상징은 옛 성벽, 핫산타워, 쿠투비아 모스크와 미너렛 같은 이슬람건축이며, 카사블랑카의 핫산 2세 모스크는 새로운 상징으로 자리매김하였다.
Abstract
Morocco located in Northern Africa is an Islamic country positioned in the Maghreb area, which connects to southern Europe. The study aims to examine the history of Morocco, its geographical background, UNESCO heritage status and cultural and religious landscape. The results of the study are as follows. First, Morocco formed islamic culture by Moors in the 8th century and through various dynasties, they created historic cities such as Fez, Marrakesh and Rabat. Second, Morocco is the center of Maghreb culture and the UNESCO World Heritage List ranks nine points. They have distinct culture and religious landscape with regards to the Integrity, authenticity and outstanding universal values of the world heritage. Third, an old section of the ancient city of Morocco is known as the ‘Medina’, and the city remains related islamic culture are well preserved in Medina. Fourth, major city symbols are islamic architectures such as old castles, Hassan Tower, Koutoubia Mosque and Minaret. Hassan II Mosque of Casablanca has been a new symbol of the country.
