A Human Geographic Study on the Route of the Joseon(朝鮮) Envoys from Huangshanguan Ancient Courier Station(黃山館驛) of Dengzhou(登州) to Zhuqiao Ancient Courier Station(朱橋驛) of Laizhou(萊州) in Shandong(山東)

This article, from the diachronic perspective, based on the field surveys and some interviews, verifies the present geographic names of the places which were passed by the Joseon(朝鮮) envoys, especially around the east boundary of Ye County(掖縣) in the prefecture of Laizhou(萊州府). It will help to confirm and reconstruct the Dengzhou-Beijing(登州-北京) shipping routes of the Joseon(朝鮮) envoys during the alternation of Ming(明) and Qing(靑) Dynasties. This thesis supplement the missing records in the relative documents of the Sahaeng(使行) record and correct Joseon envoys’ inaccurate records of the names of some places on the basis of the Chinese local records. According to the analysis and field surveys, the names of the places passed by the Joseon envoys from Huangshanguan ancient courier station(黃山館驛) of the prefecture of Dengzhou(登州府) to Zhuqiao ancient courier station(朱橋驛) of the prefecture of Laizhou(萊州府) are reconstructed as follows: Xincheng Village(新城村), Hongbu Village(紅布村), Matang Village(馬塘村) in Jincheng Town(金城鎮) of Laizhou City(莱州市) and Zhuguolijia Village(朱郭李家村), Zhuqiao River(朱橋河), Zhuqiao Village(朱橋村) of in Zhuqiao Town(朱橋鎭) of Laizhou City(莱州市).
Abstract
