하이데거 철학의 멜랑콜리 : 『존재와 시간』에 등장하는 실존론적 유아론의 멜랑콜리

이 글에서는 궁극적으로 하이데거 철학의 핵심부에 멜랑콜리가 자리 잡고 있음을 보이려 한다. 하이데거는 “철학과 정치, 시 또는 예술 방면의 비범한 사람들이 모두 멜랑콜리커”였다는 아리스토텔레스의 말을 잘 알고 있었고 그 말에 전적으로 동의했다. 탁월한 기분 분석을 통해서 하이데거는 멜랑콜리를 통한 철학 이해의 발판을 제공해 주었으며, 동시에 ‘불안’ 분석을 통해서 멜랑콜리가 철학의 근본개념이 될 수 있음을 보여주었다. 쿠라와 사투르누스 신화를 통해 하이데거는 자신의 철학의 선존재론적 선취를 말하고 있는데, 쿠라와 사투르누스는 모두 멜랑콜리와 깊은 관련이 있는 신화이다. 이 밖에도 ‘죽음을 향한 존재’, ‘양심’과 같은 모티브 역시 ‘메멘토 모리’와 ‘자기비난’을 특징으로 하는 멜랑콜리와 연관된다. 멜랑콜리의 비정상성은 역설적으로 현존재의 본래성과 연관된다. 하이데거에게 멜랑콜리는 본래적인 현존재의 고독에서 발원하는 것이다. 여기에서 고독은 한갓 심리적인 감정 상태를 기술하는 말이 아니라 하이데거가 규정한대로 (자기)철학의 근본개념을 뜻한다. 하이데거는 타인 현존재와의 관계에서 자기－중심적 모델을 제시한다. 현존재의 함께－있음 때문에 다른 현존재를 만날 수 있다거나, 본래적인 결속성을 통해 타인의 본래성을 배려하지만 그것도 결국 자기의 본래성을 확보한 다음에야 가능한 것으로 설정함으로써, 하이데거는 자기－중심의 존재론을 확립한다. 현존재는 고립된 주체내지 실체가 아니라 세계－내－존재이지만, 그 세계는 다시 자기－내－존재로 회귀한다. 이런 맥락에서 우리는 하이데거의 “실존론적 유아론”을 이해할 수 있다. 비교(문화)철학적 관점에서 하이데거의 철학적 유아론은 김상봉이 언급한 바 있는 서양철학의 나르시스적 본질에서 유래한다. 결론적으로 말하자면, 하이데거는 누구보다도 인상적으로 서양전통철학을 비판한 장본인이지만, 멜랑콜리 정조를 통해 규정되는 서양 전통철학의 흐름에서는 한 걸음도 벗어나지 못했다.
Abstract
This paper will reveal that there is the melancholy in the essential core of Heidegger’s philosophy. In other words, I would like to demonstrate which relation have melancholy and Heidegger’s existential solipsism in Sein und Zeit. First of all, we will examine Heidegger’s texts, in which melancholic motif are there, specially his opus magnum, Sein und Zeit. There are many motifs, for example anxiety, death, time, care, conscience, solitude ect. I will relate these motifs to melancholy-discussion, specially to discussion of Freud’ psychoanalysis. Thus we can find the intrinsic relations between the melancholy and the existential solipsism, that Heidegger called his own philosophy. Finally, we can confirm that Heidegger’s philosophy belongs to the traditional melancholy-discussion and western philosophy, which is logo-centric and self-centric, though he tried to overcome the traditional western philosophy during his whole life.
