하이데거의 ‘기분의 존재론’에 대한 고찰

기분이나 감정의 문제는 철학사에서 이성과 진리의 문제에 비해 부차적인 것으로 간주되어 왔다. 그래서 ‘기분’이란 오랫동안 철학사에서 철학적 주제로 합당하게 다루어지지 않았다. 그러나 20세기 전반부에 와서 하이데거는 대체로 감정상태 및 심리현상에 동반된 부수현상과 동일시되었던 ‘기분’(Stimmung) 개념을 전통 형이상학의 입장이나 심리학의 입장에서 바라보지 않는다. 오히려 그는 ‘기분’을 자신의 고유한 실존론적·존재론적 입장에서 철학적인 숙고의 사태로서 파악하고자 한다. 하이데거에게 ‘기분’이란 심리학적이고 통속적인 기분개념과 구분되며, 기분의 본질은 다른 근원에 속한다는 것을 해명하고자 한다. 그는 우리 시대를‘니힐리즘’(Nihilismus)이 지배하는 시대로 규정한다. 그 이유는 현대 기술 형이상학의 시대는 도처에서 불안과 공허 그리고 권태의 기분이 지배하는 존재상실과 존재망각의 시대이기 때문이다. 그는 전통철학과 심리학적 세계관에 의한 기분에 대한 입장과 태도에서 벗어나, 기분을 형이상학의 시원적 사태로 보는 관점에 서고자 한다. 이러한 기분에 대한 철학적 숙고는 자신의 고유한 실존론적·존재론적 입장에서 ‘기분의 존재론’ 이외에 다른 것이 아니다. 여기서는 그것이 하이데거의 사유의 전·후기에 어떻게 전개되고 있으며, 그리고 그것의 주요 테제들이 무엇인가를 고찰해보고자 한다. 이로써 하이데거 존재론적 사유의 새로움이란 ‘기분의 존재론’임을 밝혀보고자 한다.
Abstract
In the history of philosophy, issues of mood and emotion have often been considered secondary to matters of reason and truth. Consequently, for a considerable period in the history of philosophy, “mood” has not received proper attention as a philosophical topic. However, in the first half of the 20th century, Heidegger did not perceive the concept of “mood” (Stimmung), which was frequently associated with epiphenomena accompanying emotional states and psychological phenomena, from the perspective of traditional metaphysics or psychology. Instead, he attempted to understand “mood” as a subject of philosophical contemplation from his unique existential and ontological standpoint. For Heidegger, “mood” differs from the psychological and popular concept of mood, and its essence originates from a distinct source. He defines our era as an era dominated by “nihilism.” This is because the era of modern technological metaphysics is characterized by the loss of existence and the forgetfulness of existence, with anxiety, emptiness, and feelings of boredom prevailing. He seeks to depart from the position and attitude toward mood based on traditional philosophy and the psychological worldview while aiming to adopt a perspective that views mood as the original state of metaphysics. This examination of mood is nothing other than the “ontology of mood.” In this discussion, we will explore the development of this concept both before and after Heidegger’s thoughts, as well as its core theses. Through this exploration, I aim to illuminate the novelty of Heidegger’s ontological thinking, which is encapsulated in “the ontology of mood.”
