탈비행 청소년이 지각한 부모-자녀관계 변화 과정

초록

본 연구에서는 탈비행을 경험한 청소년들을 대상으로 탈비행 과정 속에 나타나는 부모와의 관계 변화에 대한 정보를 얻는 데 목적을 두었다. 자료 분석은 Strauss와 Corbin(1990)에 의해 제시된 근거이론 접근 방법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 참여자들이 지금까지 부모와의 관계에서 겪어보지 못했던 경험을 한 후, 새로운 정서가 발생하게 되고, 이것을 통해 부모-자녀관계의 변화의 계기를 마련하였다. 둘째, 참여자들과 부모는 상호 노력을 통해 친밀감과 신뢰감 형성함으로써 관계를 변화시키는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, ‘부모가 일상생활에 관심을 갖고 지켜봄’과 ‘부모의 지원’은 부모-자녀관계 변화 과정 전반에 영향을 미치는 조건으로 나타났다. 넷째, 부모-자녀관계 변화 과정을 통해 나타난 참여자들의 실천적 탈비행 전환은 부모의 기대에 부응하고자 노력하는 모습으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 핵심범주는 ‘상호 노력을 통한 친밀감과 신뢰감 형성’으로 나타났다. 탈비행 청소년들이 지각한 부모-자녀관계 변화 과정의 특징은 부모-자녀관계가 상호작용적일 때 변화의 질이 향상되었다. 부모와 자녀가 비행극복을 위해 함께 노력하면 할수록 변화 속도가 빠르고, 상호신뢰가 깊어지며, 의사소통이 개방적임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 부모-자녀관계 변화를 지속시키기 위해서는 부모의 꾸준한 일상생활에 대한 관심과 지원이 필요하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the parent-adolescent relationship changes observed in the process of desisting from delinquency by adolescents. The data were analysed using the Grounded Theory Approach suggested by Strauss and Corbin(1990). The results were as follows. Firstly, the events that cause the parent-adolescent relationship change in the desistance process enabled the experience of a new relationship to emerge, one that they have never experienced before, and generated new emotions, which served as the momentum for changes in the parent-adolescent relationship. Secondly, the analysis of the process of change in the parent-adolescent relationship showed that participants and their parents could see changes in their relationships by forming intimacy and trust through their mutual endeavors. Thirdly, 'parents' concerns about their adolescent's everyday life' and 'parents' support' were found to be the conditions that affect the overall process of the parent-adolescent relationship changes significantly. Fourthly, one of the results of the parent-adolescent relationship change was the participants' practical transition toward desistance. Fifthly, the analysis of the relationship change process showed that the core category was the 'formation of intimacy and trust through mutual endeavor.' The one of the characteristics of the change process of the parent-adolescent relationship as perceived by the desisted adolescents was that the quality of the changes in the relationship were improved when the relationship was more interactive. As both parents and their adolescent tried to overcome the delinquency together, the change was faster, the mutual trust became deeper, and the communication became more open. Parents' concern and support for their adolescent's everyday life were needed to maintain the changes in the parent-adolescent relationship.
