본 연구는 2022년 브라질 대통령 선거 득표 과정 분석을 통해 선거결과가 정부 여당의 경제성과의 지표의 변화에 따라 회고적 자기중심적인 투표형태를 보였다는 것을 밝혔다. 대선 결과가가 선거 직전의 여론조사 결과와 상이한 결과로 나타났고, 그 과정에 영향을 미친 것은 중도층들이 브라질의 거시경제지표의 호전에 많은 영향을 받았기 때문이다. 이런 결과는 의원선거에도 그대로 반영되어 나타나는데, 미나스제라이스 주를 사례로 살펴봤을 때도 동일한 결과를 얻었다. 결국, 룰라 당선자는 회고적 자기중심적인 경제투표에 의해 당선된 것이라 할 수 있다. 이와 같은 경제성과에 따라 선거가 결정되는 것은 향후 브라질 정치에 상당한 영향을 미칠 것으로 판단된다.
Abstract
Through the analysis of the vote process in the 2022 Brazilian presidential election, this study revealed that the election results showed a retrospective and self-centered voting form according to changes in the economic performance indicators of the ruling party. The result of the presidential election was different from the result of the poll just before the election, and the reason why the process was affected was that the middle class was greatly influenced by the improvement of Brazil's macroeconomic indicators. These results are reflected in the parliamentary elections as well, and the same results were obtained when examining the state of Minas Gerais as an example. In the end, it can be said that Lula was elected through a retrospective self-centered economic vote. The decision of elections based on such economic performance is expected to have a significant impact on Brazilian politics in the future.
