총신대학교신학대학원에서 신약학을 교수했던 고 정훈택 교수(1952. 6. 14-2013. 8. 29)는 믿음과 행위의 관계에 대해서 일평생 고민하면서 한국교회에 만연한 구원파적 구원론, 즉 ‘성화’(sanctificatio)를 배재한 극단적인 ‘칭의’(justificatio) 일변도의 구원이해를 교정하기 위해서 노력한 개혁주의 신약성경학자였다. 구원에 있어서 ‘일원적 은총’(gratia simplex), 즉 오직 ‘칭의’만을 강조하는 초기 루터파의 구원이해에 대항하여, 개혁주의신학은 구원에 있어서 ‘이중적 은총’(gratia duplex), 즉 ‘칭의’와 ‘성화’를 균형 있게 강조한다. 정훈택 교수는 오직 믿음으로 말미암아 하나님과 올바른 관계를 회복하는 것, 즉 좋은 나무가 됨으로서만, 그 좋은 나무로부터 좋은 열매가 생산되기에, 역으로 나무가 생산하는 열매의 진위를 보면, 그 나무의 진위를 검증할 수 있다고 주장하다. 이러한 그의 견해는 성령의 은총으로 말미암아 믿음을 통하여 ‘그리스도와 신비로운 연합’(Unio mystica cum Christo)이 이루어지고, 이러한 그리스도와의 신비로운 연합으로부터 ‘칭의’되고 ‘칭의’로부터 ‘성화’가 나오는 것을 강조하면서, 역으로 성화를 통해서 ‘칭의’의 진위를 검증할 수 있다고 주장하는 칼빈의 그라치아 두플렉스 사상, 즉 ‘이중적 은총’ 사상에 그 신학적인 구조와 내용에 있어서 정확한 상응을 보여준다. 정훈택 교수가 자신의 저서 『열매로 알리라. 마태복음에서의 믿음과 행위의 관계』에서 보여준 믿음과 행위의 관계에 대한 치밀한 주석학적 해명은 칼빈과 그를 따르는 개혁신학의 구원론인 그라치아 두플렉스의 전통에 굳건히 뿌리박고 있을 뿐만 아니라 그라치아 두플렉스 사상에 치밀하고 엄밀하며 풍부한 주석학적 기반을 제공해 주고 있다.
Abstract
Professor Hoon-Taek Chung(1952. 6. 14. - 2013. 8. 29.), who lectured New Testament Studies at Chongshin Theological Seminary, was a reformed New Testament Scholar, endeavoring throughout his whole life to rectify the common false understanding on the Salvation of exclusive devotion to Justification. Against the early Lutheranism, which solely emphasizes on the Justification, Reformed Theology stresses on the balance between gratia duplex: Justification and Sanctification. Restoring the Relationship with God solely through faith, namely only by becoming a good tree, from which a good fruit can be produced. To put it the other way around, the genuineness of the fruit proves the genuineness of the tree. In terms of its theological structure and substance, his view corresponds to Calvin’s Idea of gratia duplex, that the authenticity of Justification can be examined by Sanctification, while both are originated from the same origin of mystical Union with Christ by faith though the grace of the Holy Spirit. His precise exegetical explanation on the relation between Faith and Works in his Work, 『Known by Fruit. The Relation between Faith and Works in the Gospel of Matthew』 is deeply rooted in the reformed soteriological Tradition of gratia duplex. Furthermore it provides a solid exegetical foundation for its Tradition.
