본문은 2차 세계대전 이후, 신학의 공공성 담론의 선구가 되었던 틸리케의 교회 책임성의 담론을 다루고 있다. 특히 루터의 사회윤리의 핵심개념을 되살려내고자 했던 틸리케의 작업을 그가 전개했던 ‘두-왕국-론’에 대한 신학적 재고찰을 중심으로 살펴보고 있다. 틸리케는 신루터파에 의해 잘못 해석된 이 개념을 교정하면서, 현실의 교회에 주어진 위임을 지나간 에온과 다가오는 에온 사이에 위치한 방향 속에서 해석하고자 시도했다. 본문은 또한 교회와 사회의 관계에 대해 그가 전개한 개혁파의 입장에 대한 평가, 특히 칼빈, 바르트, 판 룰러에 대한 비판적 관점에 대해 살펴보고 있다. 이를 통해 루터파와 개혁파의 갈등을 해소하는 가운데신학의 공공성의 담론을 구성하고자 시도했던 그의 작업에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 틸리케는 이를 통해 루터파와 개혁파의 입장을 적절히 조화시키고자 시도했으며, 세속적 영역과 영적 영역에 동시에 미치는 하나님의 주권사상을 중시하는 가운데, 서로가 각자의 영역에서 위임의 명령을 수행하면서 종말론적 방향을 지향해야 한다고 강조했다. 이러한 틸리케의 입장을 통해 교회는 공적 직분에 대한 책임을 인식할 수 있고, 국가는 한계를 지키는 가운데 위임을 수행해 나갈 수 있다. 이러한 틸리케의 신학을 통해 신학의 공공성을 추구하는 오늘의 교회는 현실 신학의 과제 앞에서 공적 가치에 대한 질문을 던지는 신학적 모델을 발견할 수 있다.
Abstract
The following text deals with H. Thielicke's discourse on church responsibility after World War II, which perfomed a role as the precursor to the Public Theology(Öffentliche Theologie) afterwards. In particular, Tilike's work, which attempted to reexamine the concepts of Luther's social ethics, focuses on the theological evaluation of the 'Two-Kingdom-Doctrine(Zwei-Reiche-Lehre)' of Neo-Lutheranism. Thielicke corrected this concept, interpreting the real church in a direction located between the past and the coming aeon. The text also examines his evaluation of the Reformed position on the relationship between the church and society, especially his critical viewpoint on Calvin, Barth, and A. A. van Ruler. Through this, Thielicke attempted to reconcile the positions of the Lutherans and the Reformed. While noting the idea of God's sovereignty that extends to both the secular and spiritual realms, he emphasized that they should aim for the eschatological direction while keeping the mandate of each other in their respective realms. Simultaneously, this text traces the path of developing the direction of the church from ‘theological ethics’(Theologische Ethik) as suggested in his work ‘Church and Publicity’(Kirche und Öffentlichkeit). Through Thilicke's theological work, today's church pursuing the public task of theology can obtain a theological model that deals with public values in the face of the current task of theology.
