Abstract
The purpose of this research is to understand what implications Paul’s Spiritual Leadership and his succession model provide for the development of the leadership of modern Spiritual Leaders and to effectively apply it in the Mission Field. Therefore, by understanding Paul's principles of succession of Spiritual Leadership, the leaders of local churches and missionary organizations can demonstrate missionary leadership in their respective missionary situations and contribute to the growth of the community and the establishment of missionary strategies. To begin with, Paul's Spiritual Leadership is in close relation with his dramatic repentance. Paul, as an agent of Jewish leaders before his Conversion, conducted leadership in a way of persecuting Christians based on his understanding of the Jewish Law. On the other hand, after his Conversion, Paul, as an agent of Christ, demonstrates Spiritual Leadership based on the gospel and leads the Diaspora Jews and the Gentiles to repent and become holy. As such, Paul's commitment, along with his leadership transformation, serves as an opportunity to build trust between the leader and the followers and to form a new spiritual community. Paul then identifies and trains successors such as Timothy and Titus, and after that, transfers his Spiritual Leadership to them and shares his ministry. Spiritual Leadership is inevitably linked to the succession of leadership as the previous reasoning suggests. Accordingly, this researcher examines Paul's Spiritual Leadership and his succession strategy in the perspective of modern Missionary Leadership, applies it in the Mission Field, then, by introducing the real-world examples of missionary sites, presents the strategies for leadership development and leadership succession for spiritual leaders to cope with the changing missionary situations.
