Abstract
This study examines the missionary theology of Paul the Apostle from the perspective of ‘invitation to an eschatological community.’ Paul's missionary activities and theological thoughts, initiated through the event of Christ, represent a process of inviting people into the new reality of the Kingdom of God, which is yet to be fully realized. This is embodied in the formation of a new kind of community that transcends boundaries of race, culture, social status, and gender. This study analyzes the influence of Paul's conversion experience and apostolic calling on the formation of his missionary theology, the uniqueness of Paul's theology within the context of Judaism and Hellenism, and the eschatological characteristics of the community he pursued. Key features of Paul's missionary theology include a strong eschatological perspective, emphasis on the universality of the Gospel, the connection between justification by faith and mission, and a unique interpretation of the relationship between Jews and Gentiles. This study suggests that Paul's missionary theology offers implications for contemporary mission, including the importance of contextualization, the vision of building a multicultural/multiethnic community, and the values of reconciliation and community formation.
