韓国における日本現代詩の受容と共感 - 茨木のり子を中心に -

Abstract

This paper examines how to enter into the spirit of poetry, especially those poems written by the post-war poet, Ibaragi Noriko, based on my teaching experiences in S. Korea. Ibaragi Noriko has attracted a number of studies among the academics and intellectuals in S. Korea. However, to what extent is this interest aroused in ordinary Korean readers and in young Korean students of Japanese? What are the unapproachable points of Ibaragi Noriko’s poetry for ordinary Korean readers? First of all, there is a matter of gender, followed by the issue of “Japanese-ness” and the features of the post‐war era in Japan and what might be described as the peaceful post‐war “liberal” atmosphere fostered in Japan. The questions raised by cross-cultural studies are as follows. What does it mean to read poems? Is it possible to read poems and other literary works without reference to cultural norms, cultural considerations, and the related historical perspectives? This paper addresses these questions by examining the characteristics of the post-war Japanese female poet, Ibaragi Noriko, who is appreciated to some extent by Korean and Japanese readers, and then tries to locate this figure in the context of the post‐war era of S. Korea and Japan. The purpose of this article is to enhance our understanding of the proper communications between different cultures, and to see within this overview the place of “empathy,” in order to consider the true cross-cultural literary scene of our Eastern Asia future.
