장애성인의 평생교육 프로그램 참여를 통한 기대 및 성과 분석

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the expectations and achievements of adults with disabilities through their participation in lifelong education programs, as well as to suggest the development direction for lifelong education programs for persons with disabilities. For this purpose, a survey was conducted targeting adults with disabilities who had participated in a lifelong education program over the past year. A total of 101 adults with disabilities were selected as the subjects of the study. To ensure the reliability of the survey, we selected adults with disabilities who could read and understand the questionnaire without any help of others those who were able to respond on their own. However to provide convenience for the respondents voice conversion questionnaires for the visually impaired, sign language video questionnaires for the hearing impaired, and easy-word questionnaires for persons with developmental disabilities were also provided. The main results of expectations and achievements through participation in the lifelong education program are as follows. First, adults with disabilities generally had high expectations for promotion of personal areas such as happiness, health, and self-development; they also had relatively low expectations for promotion of occupational areas such as income increase and job security. Second, adults with disabilities who participated in the lifelong education program showed great achievement in personal areas such as health, happiness, and self-development; however, they showed low achievement in occupational areas such as income increase and job security. Third, adults with disabilities achieved greater than expected performance in the personal area, while showing lower performance than expected in the occupational area. Furthermore, based on the above results, discussions were made on the establishment of lifelong education institutions specializing in vocational education as well as the operation of business-linked lifelong education programs.
