Abstract
This study is an autoethnography of a middle school special education teacher’s experience running an inclusive human rights club. It explores the educational practices and the practical knowledge formed through this experience. To achieve this, the researcher collected narrative memories and cultural artifacts based on club activities conducted over two years and analyzed the data through a comprehensive process grounded in pragmatic eclecticism. The analysis yielded three overarching categories, nine subcategories, and eighteen meaning units that revealed the cultural and practical significance of the teacher's experience. The findings are as follows First, the special education teacher played a practical role in restoring inter-teacher relationships and fostering collaboration within a structurally divided educational setting. Second, the operation of the inclusive human rights club brought about changes among students, teachers, and the entire school community, serving as a practical foundation for building a human rights-friendly school culture. Third, the inclusive human rights club became more sustainable when structured within the formal curriculum rather than operated as a voluntary activity. This study provides practical insights for the qualitative enhancement of inclusive human rights education and is expected to serve as a foundational reference for future efforts to integrate inclusive education and human rights education within special education contexts.
