초록
This paper provides a unified syntactic account for the apparently different two uses of the Korean plural marker tul. In my previous work, it has been claimed that the two uses are uniform semantically. This paper articulates how the semantic uniformity should be represented at the syntactic level. Claiming that the Korean plural system puts forth strong evidence for the distinction between semantic number and grammatical number, I present a new syntactic account that utilizes two features of plurality. This new analysis further explains how and why the ambiguity between the two uses occurs.
Abstract
This paper provides a unified syntactic account for the apparently different two uses of the Korean plural marker tul. In my previous work, it has been claimed that the two uses are uniform semantically. This paper articulates how the semantic uniformity should be represented at the syntactic level. Claiming that the Korean plural system puts forth strong evidence for the distinction between semantic number and grammatical number, I present a new syntactic account that utilizes two features of plurality. This new analysis further explains how and why the ambiguity between the two uses occurs.
