초록
The distribution of the Korean Plural Marker tul is quite peculiar in many respects. First, it can be attached to mass nouns and non-nominal categories as well as count nouns. Second, some phrases with the marker tul can occur in the subject position only. Third, classifiers are required even for the nouns that tul can be attached to. There are also so many other distributional peculiarities of the tul-phrases. This paper claims that the distributional restrictions of the tul-phrase can be explained in terms of distributivity and a continuum in the count-mass domain.
Abstract
The distribution of the Korean Plural Marker tul is quite peculiar in many respects. First, it can be attached to mass nouns and non-nominal categories as well as count nouns. Second, some phrases with the marker tul can occur in the subject position only. Third, classifiers are required even for the nouns that tul can be attached to. There are also so many other distributional peculiarities of the tul-phrases. This paper claims that the distributional restrictions of the tul-phrase can be explained in terms of distributivity and a continuum in the count-mass domain.
