한국의 전통에 기초해 고찰하는 레비나스의 시간문제

본 연구는 시간문제에 대한 연구를 통해 한국 사상과 유럽 사상 사이를 매개해 보려는 목적을 가지고 있다. 동서 철학의 비교 작업을 올바로 수행하기 위해 레비나스(E. Lvinas)의 철학을 분석했고, 그것이 한국의 전통이나 문화로부터 제기될 수 있는 질문에 답을 줄 수 있는지 검토했다. 본 연구는 레비나스의 철학과의 대화를 통해 시간문제에 대한 고찰의 기여를 소개했다. 한편으로 시간을 이해하는 것이 세계를 학문적으로 이해하고 해석하는데 어떤 중요성을 가지는지 물었다. 또 한편으로 유럽의 시간사유를 수용하는 일이 가지는 기회나 한계가 동방 아시아의 종교의 문맥에서 어떤 것인지 알아보았다. 이런 작업의 일환에서 제기되는 문제는 시간에 대한 한국 전통방식의 이해나 경험과 관련되어 던져질 것이다. 탐구의 해석학적 가치는 궁극에 다음과 같은 내용, 곧 그 탐구를 확립하는 원칙이 한국 전통, 예를 들면 유교나 샤머니즘 그리고 불교의 시간 경험으로부터 발전되고 있다고 말할 수 없다는 것을 밝히는데 있다.
Abstract
The contribution of the problem of time is introduced in dialogue with philosophy E. Lévinas'. What is the merits in understanding of time for the interpretation of world? It also makes Koreans to reexamine the scope and the limit of the European thought of time in the context of Far-Eastern religious background. Though Lévinas' understanding of time as the responsible relationship with others in ethical aspects is compatible with Far-Easterners' understanding of time, but there are many different aspects where Shamanism, Buddhism, Confucianism prevail.
