환경불확실성과 정보기술간의 적합성이 물류성과에 미치는 영향: 물류전략과 조직구조의 조절효과를 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 자가물류 기업을 대상으로 물류관리시스템 성과를 극대화하기 위하여 환경불확실성, 물류정보기술, 물류전략 및 조직구조간의 관계에서 환경과 물류전략 혹은 환경과 조직구조의 조화 문제를 개별적으로 추구하는 것만으로는 부족하며, 환경과 물류정보기술 간의 적합성은 기업이 추구하는 물류전략과 조직구조에 대한 고려가 보장될 때, 물류성과 향상을 달성할 수 있는가를 주된 연구의 목적으로 한다. 실증분석결과, 환경불확실성과 물류정보기술 간의 환경적합성에 따른 물류성과에 대한 차이에 관한 연구결과, 환경적합성이 높은 기업의 물류성과가 높다는 연구결과를 보이고 있다. 둘째, 환경불확실성과 물류정보기술 간의 적합성에 따른 물류성과 차이에서 물류전략 추진정도의 역할에 관한 연구결과에 의하면 기업의 물류전략 추진정도가 높을수록 물류성과는 더욱 높게 나타내고 있다. 즉 환경불확실성과 물류정보기술 간의 적합성을 통해 물류성과 향상을 달성하기 위해서는 기업이 추구하는 물류전략에 대한 고려가 높을수록 기업의 물류성과가 높다는 연구결과이다. 셋째, 환경적합성에 따른 물류성과 차이에서 조직구조 변수의 역할에 관한 연구결과, 조직구조의 유효성이 높을수록 물류성과는 더욱 높다는 연구결과를 보이고 있다. 이러한 연구결과는 물류정보기술의 수립․실행만을 관심의 대상으로 하고 있는 물류경영실무에 대해서도 물류전략 변수에 대한 명시적인 고려가 필요함을 시사해 주며, 아울러 전략실행의 문제를 배제하고 있는 물류경영실무에 대해서도 성과 함의를 분석하기 위해서는 조직구조에 적합한 물류정보기술의 선택에 관한 문제를 고려할 필요가 있음을 제시하였다는데 본 연구의 의의가 있다.

Abstract

This paper investigates the moderating effects of logistics strategy and organizational structure on the relationship of environmental fit and logistics performance, and suggests logistics strategies that would help to achieve the logistics goals. This study uses Korean listed firms as a research sample. Once the firm agreed to participate, the researcher visited the logistics divisional managers within the firm to administer the questionnaires. The questionnaires were primarily designed to collect information about the independent and dependent variables. However, an opportunity to interview many of the leading authorities in logistics management systems also provided an excellent opportunity to gather additional insight into logistics management systems. A total of 500 questionnaires were sent out in January, 2009. 236 valid responses were collected. The findings suggest the following. Firms with high harmony between environmental uncertainty and logistics information technology fit were significantly better in the logistics performance than firms with low harmony. Second, if the logistics strategy and the harmonization between environmental uncertainty and logistics information technology supported, then the logistical performance can be maximized. Third, if the organizational structure and the harmonization between environmental uncertainty and logistics information technology supported, then the logistical performance can be maximized. The results of this study will help firms to become aligned and to focus on improving the competitive strategies of logistics systems.
