구조방정식을 활용한 화물자동차 교통사고의 심각도 요인 분석

본 연구는 구조방정식을 활용하여 화물자동차 교통사고의 심각도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 규명하고 안전성 제고방안을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 심각도 영향요인을 도로요인, 운전자요인, 사고상황요인, 시간요인으로 구분하여 변수를 설계한다. 구조방정식 모형은 인천광역시에서 발생한 1,132개 화물자동차 교통사고 자료를 기반으로 구축된다. 모형 구축 결과 화물자동차 관련 교통사고의 경우, 고속주행이 잦은 도로와 교차로 부근에서 사고 심각도가 상승하는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 다중 차량 사고인 경우, 그리고 기상상황이 좋지 않은 경우에도 사고 심각도가 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 분석 결과를 통해 화물자동차 교통사고 심각도는 일반차량과 다른 차별적인 영향요인을 가지고 있으며, 화물자동차 안전성 제고를 위한 별도의 안전전략의 수립이 시급히 요구됨을 확인할 수 있다.
Abstract
This study aims to identify influential factors on the severity of truck crashes and to seek to improve the safety of freight transportation by truck. To do this, the influential factors are classified into highway, driver, environment, and time factors. A structural equation model is estimated based on 1,132 truck crash records that occurred in the Incheon Metropolitan City in 2010. According to the results from the developed model, accidents on highways with high-speed limit and intersections have higher severity. The severity also increased when the accident was related with multi vehicles or when the weather condition was not fine. The results and model in this study show the severity of truck crashes has different influential factors from that of passenger-vehicle crashes, and thus the specialized and differentiated safety strategies and measures should be required for truck freight transportation.
