온라인교육에 대한 교수자 인식 및 수업전략

초록

본 연구는 온라인대학 교수자들이 가지고 있는 온라인교육에 대한 인식과 수업에 투자하는 시간, 사용하는 수업전략을 탐색하는데 목적이 있다. 특히 기존 면대면 강의와 비교하여 온라인 수업의 고유한 특성을 어느 정도 인식하고 있으며 이를 수업에 반영하고 있는지에 대한 분석에 초점을 맞추었다. 국내 한 온라인대학에 전임으로 재직하고 있는 교원 30명을 대상으로 연구가 이루어졌으며 선행연구에 기초한 설문지를 연구도구로 사용하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 응답자들은 온라인 수업을 구성주의적 특성이 강조된 새로운 교수-학습적 패러다임의 대상이라기보다는 하나의 새로운 지식전달시스템으로 인식하였다. 둘째, 온라인대학 교수자는 기존 면대면 수업에 비하여 상대적으로 많은 학습내용을 가르치며 강좌운영에 많은 시간을 투자하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 온라인대학 교수자는 다양한 교수-학습적 조치를 취하고 있으나 보다 체계적이고 전문적인 도움을 필요로 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 한 대학의 사례만을 대상으로 하였다는 점에서 일반화의 문제가 있을 수 있으나 온라인대학 교수자를 대상으로 한 최초 분석이라는 점에서 의미가 있다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the characteristics and instructional strategies the instructors perceived in an online university. The more specific purposes were as follows: 1) how online instructors perceive online education compared to face-to-face education, 2) how much time they use for teaching their courses, and 3) what the instructional strategies they use are. To achieve these purposes, this study involved 30 full-time instructors from an online university, and developed and used a questionnaire. The results were as follows: 1) the instructors perceived online education as one of the alternative systems suitable for disseminating knowledge rather than a new instructional paradigm, 2) the instructors thought they included more learning tasks in their courses and spent more time, and 3) the instructors tried to use various instructional strategies considering the contextual characteristics of online education and adult learners. Although this study could not identify the factors affecting what the online instructors perceived as the characteristics of online education and was implemented in one online university that makes it difficult to generalize the results to the other settings, it would be meaningful that this study tried to analyze the perception and instructional strategies of online instructors for the first time in Korea.
