본 연구는 메타버스를 경험한 국악 전공자들의 인식과 경험을 탐구하고, 국악 교육에서 메타버스의활용 가능성을 도출하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 Y대학교 국악과 학생 24명을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 실시하고, 질적 분석을 통해 데이터를 범주화하였다. 연구 결과, 메타버스 환경이 자기 주도적탐구와 협력을 촉진하며 학습 몰입감을 높이는 데 기여하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 발표와 토론 과정에서의 실시간 피드백과 상호작용이 학습자의 적극적인 참여를 유도하였다. 학습자들은 메타버스를활용하여 국악의 시대적 맥락과 전통 음악적 특징을 보다 깊이 이해할 수 있었다. 그러나 플랫폼의기술적 제약과 사용성의 한계는 일부 학습자들에게 부정적인 경험을 초래하였다. 이에 따라 기술적보완과 플랫폼 개선의 필요성이 확인되었다. 본 연구는 국악 교육에서 메타버스 활용의 가능성을 실질적으로 탐구하였으며, 디지털 기술과 전통 음악 교육의 융합 가능성을 제시하였다. 이는 국악 교육을 포함한 다양한 학문 분야에서 메타버스를 활용한 학습 설계 및 운영 전략을 모색하는 데 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This study aims to explore the perceptions and experiences of Korean traditional music majors who have experienced the metaverse and to derive the potential for its application in Korean traditional music education. To achieve this, in-depth interviews were conducted with 24 students majoring in Korean traditional music at Y University, and the collected data were categorized through qualitative analysis. The findings indicate that the metaverse environment facilitates self-directed inquiry and collaboration, enhancing learners’ immersion in the learning process. Additionally, real-time feedback and interactions during presentations and discussions encouraged active student participation. Learners were able to explore the historical context and characteristics of traditional Korean music more deeply through the metaverse. However, technical limitations and usability issues of the platform led to negative experiences for some learners, highlighting the need for technological improvements and platform enhancements. This study provides practical insights into the potential use of the metaverse in Korean traditional music education and suggests the possibility of integrating digital technology with traditional music education. The findings are expected to serve as a foundational resource for designing and implementing metaverse-based learning strategies in various academic fields, including Korean traditional music education.
