본 연구는 반복적 학사경고 학생이 대학생활과 학업 수행 장면에서 겪는 어려움은 무엇인지 그리고 대학생활과학업 수행에서 느끼는 어려움을 개선하기 위하여 반복적 학사경고 학생이 대학에 요구하는 사항은 무엇인지를 파악하고자하였다. 연구결과의 도출을 위해 수도권 A대학에서 2021년 1학기부터 2023년도 2학기까지 학사경고를 2회 이상받은 학생들을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였다. 본 연구는 자료 분석을 위해 수정된 합의적 질적 연구 방법을 활용하였다. 연구결과 학사경고 당시의 어려움으로 수업 및 학업 관련 문제, 진로/적성/전공 간의 갈등, 대학생활 부적응, 개인적여건 문제, 시간 및 자기관리 어려움 등 다섯 가지가 도출되었다. 반복적 학사경고 학생이 요구하는 사항으로는비교과 프로그램 확대, 학습환경 개선 및 교수 지원, 학사제도 개선, 인프라 개선, 학생복지 및 생활 지원 등 다섯가지가 확인되었다. 이러한 연구결과에 기초하여 시사점 및 후속연구를 위한 제언을 도출하였다.
Abstract
This study aimed to identify the difficulties that students experience in repeated academic probation in college life and their academic performance. In addition, it investigated what students with repeated academic probation requested from universities in order to improve their college life and academic performance. Data were collected from students who received more than two academic warnings from the first semester of 2021 to the second semester of 2023 at a university in a metropolitan area. A modified consensual qualitative research method was used for data analysis. The results revealed five difficulties experienced at the time of academic probation: class- and academic-related problems, conflicts between career path/aptitude/major, maladjustment to college life, personal circumstances, and difficulties in time and self-management. Five needs of students on repeated academic probation were identified: expansion of non-curricular programs, improvement of the learning environment and professor support, improvement of the academic system, improvement of infrastructure, and student welfare and living support. Based on these results, implications and suggestions for follow-up research were derived.
