도덕과 교육에서 글로벌 윤리의 과제

글로벌 윤리는 글로벌 이슈가 야기하는 윤리적 문제에 대한 이론적 탐구를 통해 인류가 중시해야 할 공통의 가치와 윤리적 관점을 제공한다. 이러한 노력의 궁극적 목적은 인류 공통의 가치에 따라 도덕적으로 옳은 방법을 통해 글로벌 이슈를 해결할 수 있는 지식과 태도를 인류가 갖도록 하는 것이다. 이런 점은 글로벌 시대 도덕과 교육이 지향하는 바의 일부가 된다. 이런 이유로 본 연구는 도덕과 교육이 글로벌 윤리 연구를 어떻게 활용할 수 있을 것인가를 논의하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 글로벌 윤리의 의미를 검토하고 글로벌 윤리가 학문 분야로서 갖는 특성과 주요 내용을 살펴보았다. 글로벌 윤리에 관한 이러한 이해에 근거해 본 연구는 도덕과 교육에서 다루는 글로벌 윤리 관련 내용을 검토하였으며 현행 도덕과 교육에서는 글로벌 윤리 관련 내용이 편협하게 반영되어 있을 뿐만 아니라 글로벌 윤리의 응용 학문적 특성이 제대로 실현되지 못하고 있음을 발견하였다. 이런 점에 기초해 본 연구는 도덕과 교육에서의 글로벌 윤리가 해결해야 할 과제로 2009 개정교육과정에 따른 교과서 집필 시 사회적 요구를 반영하는 글로벌 이슈를 도덕과 교육 내용 영역에 포함시킬 필요가 있다고 지적하였다. 또한 공통 교육과정과 선택 교육과정에서 글로벌 윤리 관련 내용을 어떻게 배분하여 다룰 것인가에 대한 논의가 필요하다고 지적하였다. 둘째, 본 연구는 사실로서의 글로벌 이슈에 대한 이해의 중요성에도 불구하고 현행 도덕과 교육에서의 글로벌 윤리 관련 내용은 사실보다는 당위적 가치와 규범에 더 치중해 교과 내용을 구성하고 있음을 지적하였다. 마지막으로, 본 연구는 글로벌 교육, 다문화 교육, 글로벌 윤리, 글로벌 윤리 교육과 같은 학문 분야들의 차이점과 공통점에 근거해서 이들 분야들이 도덕과 교육의 범주 내에서 어떠한 관계를 가지는가에 대한 논의가 필요함을 지적하였다.
Abstract
Global Ethics can be defined as a field of theoretical enquiry that addresses ethical questions and problems arising out of the global interconnection and interdependence of the worlds’ population. It could be said that the final goal of this field is to provide people with proper knowledge that is related with common moral norms to solve global issues. This goal is a part of the various goals that moral education pursues. In this regard, this study discusses how to utilize the achievements of Global Ethics for the purpose of attaining the goals of moral education. The study includes the following sections. First, this study examines the definition of Global Ethics and the characteristics of the field. Second, this study investigates the Global Ethics-related contents in the current moral education and finds that the current moral education has not covered enough the contents of Global Ethics and has focused on the values of toleration and peace. Third, this study points out that three tasks of the current moral education: the task of including more contents of Global Ethics and finding the effective way to divide the contents of Global Ethics in moral education, the task of providing enough consideration of what is, and the task of differentiate similar but different fields such as global education, multicultural education, global ethics, and global ethics education. Finally, it concludes.
