본 연구에서는 오늘날 글로벌 사회가 처한 새로운 상황에 대처할 수 있는 좋은 시민을 길러내는데 초․중등 도덕과가 핵심적인 역할을 수행할 수 있다는 전제 아래, 독립 교과로서 ‘도덕과의 특성을 반영한 글로벌 교육’(글로벌 윤리교육)의 적용 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 우선 ‘글로벌 윤리교육’의 의미를 ‘윤리학 및 정치철학 등을 바탕으로 글로벌 맥락에서 발생하는 다양하고 복잡한 윤리적 이슈와 사건을 도덕과 교수․학습에 적용하기 위한 도덕교육적 노력의 일환’으로 규정한 후, 국가 시민성과 글로벌 시민성의 양립 가능성을 탐색하고자 하였다. 또한, 글로벌 윤리교육의 적용 방안을 성격과 목표, 내용, 방법을 중심으로 제시하는 과정에서 글로벌 교육을 위한 도덕과의 역할은 규범적·윤리적 관점에 근거해야 한다는 점을 명확히 하였고, 존중, 정의, 배려를 글로벌 윤리교육의 핵심 가치로 설정하였으며, 글로벌화 및 상호의존성, 사회정의, 평화/갈등, 사회․문화적 다양성(문화), 인권, 환경을 글로벌 윤리교육에서 다루어야 할 핵심 주제로 선정하였다. 끝으로, 글로벌 교육의 특성에 부합되는 핵심적인 교수․학습 기법으로 ‘이슈 탐구 방식’을 제시하였으며, 글로벌 윤리 교육을 실시하는 교사들이 유의해야 할 점을 지적하고자 하였다.
Abstract
Under the premise that moral education as an independent subject-matter has a key role to play in producing good global citizens in the era of globalization, this article tried to examine how we design global ethics education in the elementary and secondary moral education. For the purpose, first, this article defined the concept of global ethics education as "educational effort to apply global ethical and moral issues to the context of teaching and learning in moral education, based on ethics and political philosophy. Second, this article explored the compatibility between national citizenship and global citizenship. Third, investigating specific objectives, contents, and teaching methods in global ethics education, this article emphasized the importance of normative and ethical perspective. In addition, this article extracted respect, justice, caring as core ethical values in global ethics education, and selected globalization and interdependency, social justice, peace/conflicts, social and cultural diversity(culture), human rights, and environment as key topics for global ethics education. Lastly, this article presented 'an issue-centered approach' as the most effective teaching method for global ethics education, and pointed out a few things that moral education teachers need to be aware of.
