Abstract
Moral self-identity, being a principal concept in the philosophical and psychological background, means a true form to oneself as a subject of moral understanding and action or a status of self-consciousness to the form. It is constituted and developed through the process of moral experience in one's life and reflection of the experience. On the relation of moral self-identity to the moral action, the theory of Blasi is remarkable. The implications of it for moral education lie in the role which it arbitrates between moral understanding and moral action. This refers to the connection of moral self-identity formed on the basis of moral understanding to the moral action through responsibility judgement and motivation.
