도덕 정체성 발달에 대한 예비연구 - 초․중․고등학생들의 도덕 정체성을 중심으로 -

초록

도덕 정체성은 도덕적 행동을 예측하는 요인이다. 그러므로 도덕 정체성은 도덕교육의 중요한 목표이자 내용이 될 수 있으며, 도덕 정체성 발달을 위한 교육 방안을 마련할 필요가 있다. 이를 위해서는 도덕 정체성 발달에 대한 연구가 선행되어야 한다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제의식을 바탕으로 도덕 정체성의 발달적 변화를 경험적으로 확인하기 위해 초․중․고등학생 457명의 자기 기술 및 도덕 정체성 유형을 분석하였다. 연구결과에 따르면, 첫째, 도덕 정체성은 아동기에도 존재한다. 둘째, 도덕 정체성은 청소년기를 거치며 정교화된 도덕적 가치를 자아와 통합하는 과정으로 나타난다. 본 연구는 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 도덕 정체성 발달을 위한 몇 가지 제언을 한다.

Abstract

Moral identity is a predictor of moral behavior. Therefore, moral identity can be an important goal and content of moral education, and it is necessary to develop instructional methods for the moral identity development. For this purpose, research on the moral identity development is a prerequisite. Based on such a critical mind, this study analyzed the self-description and moral identity types of 457 elementary, middle, and high school students to empirically confirm the developmental changes in moral identity. The results show that (1) moral identity is present in childhood and (2) moral identity develops during adolescence as a process of integrating elaborated moral values into the self. Based on these findings, this study offers several suggestions for the moral identity development.
