기술적 탁월성은 윤리적 탁월성과 상통하는 면이 있다. 인공지능이 인간의 이익을 실현하려는 목적을 충실히 달성할 때 그것은 기술적으로도 탁월하며 윤리적으로도 탁월하다. 그러나 이것만으로는 인공지능이 생태적 지위를 갖는다고 말하는 데 부족함이 있다. 인공지능은 인간의 삶에서 더욱 다양한 역할을 맡고 적극적으로 활동함에 따라 생태계 구성원의 자격을 얻게 된다. 그 역할을 다하기 위해 인공지능은 어떤 방식으로든지 생태적으로 유의미한 성격과 특징을 갖추어야 한다. 다시 말해 인공지능은 도덕행위자이어야하며 그것의 존재 및 행위는 생태계의 보전과 개선에 유익한 것이어야 한다. 이와 같은 내용을 확증하기 위해 이 논문에서는 다음과 같은 점을 검토할 것이다. 첫째, 도덕행위자로서 인공지능의 특성은 어떠해야 하는가. 둘째, 인공지능은 진정으로 생태계 구성원일 수 있는가. 셋째, 인공지능의 생태적 특성 및 역할은 무엇인가. 이를 통해 인간은 물론 생태계의 다른 구성물과 공존하는 인공지능을 전망하고자 한다.
Abstract
Technical excellence is synonymous with ethical excellence. When artificial intelligence fulfills its purpose of realizing human interests, it is technologically excellent and ethically excellent. However, this is not sufficient to say that AI gets an ecological status. When artificial intelligence takes on more diverse roles in human life with it and becomes more active, it can be a member of the ecosystem. In order to do that, AI must have ecologically meaningful personalities and characteristics. In other words, artificial intelligence should be a moral agent, and its existence and behavior should be beneficial to the conservation and improvement of the ecosystem. In order to confirm this content, this paper will present the following points. First, what should be the characteristics of artificial intelligence as a moral agent? Second, can AI truly be a member of an ecosystem? Third, what are the ecological characteristics and roles of AI? Through this, I want to show AI that coexists with not only humans but also other components of the ecosystem.
