Abstract
As shown in the MIKTA, is middle power’s outward posture driven by a structural factor or an actor’s strategic choice? Does this behavior wield influence in international structure? This paper develops a structural approach of middle power politics, “invisible power model.” Middle powers increases structural impacts gradually by two ways: attending great powers-led coalitions and building their own coalitions. South Korea has engaged in international politics through these two ways, wielding systemic influence since 1990s. Korea’s New Southern Policy needs to be explained by middle power politics.
