21세기 신냉전 도래 속에, 동유럽 국가들은 내재 된 지정학적 가치로 인해 일련의 위기를 맞이하는 중이다. 본 연구의 제2장에선 동유럽의 중요성을 다룬 지정학적 이론을 기초로 동유럽이 지닌 지정학적 가치와 그 역할을 소개하고자 했다. 제3장에선 20세기 냉전과 21세기 신냉전 특징과 여러 내용을 상호 비교하고, 냉전의 대표 양상이자 핵심 코드인 ‘블록화’와 ‘대리전’ 양상이 신냉전 하에서도 그대로 재현되고 있음을 확인하였다. 앞서 연구를 기초로, 제4장에선 신냉전 충돌이라 할 수 있는 우크라이나 전쟁을 주요 사례로, 전개 중인 ‘블록화’와 ‘대리전’ 양상을 소개하면서 동유럽 국가들이 이제 선택의 시간에 직면해 있음을 밝혔다. 특히, 본 장의 첫 번째 절에선 오늘날 신냉전 하 여러 ‘블록화’ 현상 중 강대국들의 ‘에너지 안보 블록’ 강요를 중심으로 현재 동유럽 국가들이 겪고 있는 고민과 그 선택에 관해 설명하였다. 두 번째 절에선 우크라이나 전쟁이 냉전과 신냉전 공통의 핵심 코드인 ‘대리전’에 기초함을 제시하고, 조지 프리드먼 등 여러 지정학자의 의견을 토대로 이 전쟁을 미국과 러시아 간 ‘림램드 확보 전쟁’이라 제시하였다. 마지막으로 결론인 제5장에선 21세기 신냉전이 보다 확대될수록, 새로운 패권국 부상을 희망하는 혹은 이를 막고 패권을 계속 확대하려는 강대국 간 완충지대로서 동유럽의 지정학적 가치와 그 역할이 다시 재부상하리라 전망하였다. 더불어, 동유럽과 한반도는 그 지정학적 위치와 가치 유사성에 따라, 신냉전 확대에 따른 선택의 시간이 그리 많이 남지 않았음을 담론으로 제시하고자 했다.
Abstract
In the New Cold War of the 21st century, Eastern European countries are facing a series of crises due to their inherent geopolitical value. In Chapter II of this study, I tried to explain the geopolitical value and role of Eastern Europe based on the geopolitical theory that deals with the importance of Eastern Europe. In Chapter III, I compared the characteristics and various contents of the 20C’ Cold War and the 21C’ New Cold War from the perspective of ‘the recirculation of history’. And I confirmed that the ‘Bloc-ization’ and ‘Proxy war’, which are representative aspects and core codes of the Cold War, are being reproduced as they are under the New Cold War. Based on previous research, in Chapter IV, I tried to introduce the ‘Bloc-ization’ and ‘Proxy war’ aspects shown in the Ukraine War which can be called the explosion of the New Cold War. Through this, I argued that Eastern European countries are now facing a time of choice. In particular, in the first section of this chapter, I explain the current difficulties faced by Eastern European countries, focusing on the ‘Energy security bloc’ imposed by the Great Powers among the various ‘Bloc-ization’ phenomena under the New Cold War. And in the second section, I suggested that the Ukraine War is based on the ‘Proxy war,’ and analyze this war as a ‘war for secure the Rimland’ between the United States and Russia.
