Abstract

Now that Korean companies have grown into leading companies in the global market, it is necessary to develop new technologies and new products through innovation. This study examines whether innovative organizational culture and innovation activities can be achieved by providing employees with the latest science and technology knowledge through education and training, and by implementing an performance-based pay system that can compensate for the achievements of innovation. This study analyzed the data of Human Capital Corporate Panel(HCCP) surveyed by Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training(KRIVET) in 2015. As a result of the analysis, the education and training hour did not have any significant effect on innovation, but the education and training expenses ratio affected only the innovative organizational culture. The distribution of conditional residual wages by the performance-based pay system does not affect innovation. But the maximum-minimum wage gap by the performance-based pay system influences innovative organizational culture and innovation, and the innovative organizational culture has mediated effects. The results show that the expenditure on education and training and the high wage payment for the best performers are important for promoting the innovation of Korean companies.
