이러한 과정을 통해 개발된 프로그램의 명칭은 ‘S(Self-directing learning).M(Managing health and relationship).A(Activity for decision making).R(Role performance in physical activity).T(Transition to daily life)’이며, 이는 지적장애인의 성인기 자립 생활에 필요한 기능과 태도에 대한 의미를 함축적으로 포함하고 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of developing and implementing a physical activity program to enhance life skill for adults with intellectual disability. In the process of developing the program and applying it after development, the acquisition and change of life skills were explored through qualitative research methods by collecting various data from the viewpoint of the behavioral, cognitive, and affective domains of the participants. The program development process systematically analyze the factors of the life skills necessary for adult with intellectual disability through review of literature and previous studies. In addition, the contents and composition of the program were derived by considering the value of physical activity and the connection between life skill factors. The name of the program developed is ‘S.M.A.R.T’, which implicitly includes the meaning of the skills and attitudes necessary for independent living in adulthood for people with intellectual disabilities. The activities in the program consist of a total of eight, and it is structured that the intervention of the leader was minimized and participants could perform with an active and voluntary attitude. The program was run for a total of 17 weeks, twice a week, for 120 minute, and was divided into three stages such as ‘program understanding, program implementing, program applying’depending on the timing. As a result, it can be confirmed that the participants developed life skills such as ‘acting and practicing on their own (behavioral)',‘recognizing and understanding the situation on their own (cognitive)', and‘going together (definitive)'. Through these results, it was confirmed that physical activity was an effective educational approach for developing life skills for adults with intellectual disabilities. And it is more meaningful in that it is a participant-led educational approach that considers connectivity, integration, and continuity with the changing environment, rather than the knowledge transfer-centered education and teacher-led approach.
