이 연구는 사회성을 측정하는 검사의 전체 결과와 하위 영역의 문항난이도(Item Difficulty)를 함께 고려하여, 지적장애 아동의 신체활동이 사회성 능력에 미치는 실제적 유의성을 확인하는 것에 그 목적이 있다. 서울특별시에서 위탁받아 운영하는 특수체육 전문기관에서 신체활동 프로그램을 이용하는 지적장애 아동 62명[남: 53명, 여: 9명; 교육 가능: 39명, 훈련 가능: 23명; 생활연령: 6.35(±1.539)]이 참여하였다. 사회성숙도검사(Social Maturity Scale: SMS)가 검사 도구로 사용되었으며, 2인의 임상심리사가 신체활동 참여 전․후에 아동의 부모와 1:1 면접으로 검사하였다. ES=.50, α=.05로 설정하여 통계적 검증력(Power: 1-β)이 분석되었으며, 신체활동 프로그램 참여 전 · 후의 사회지수(Social Quotient: SQ) 평균 간 차이와 하위 6개 영역(자조: SH, 이동: L, 작업: O, 의사소통: C, 자기관리: SD, 사회화: S)의 수행 가능한 평균 생활연령(Life Age Mean) 간 차이는 Paired-t Test를 이용하여 분석하였다. 자료 분석 결과, 1-β=.972로 나타나 이 연구의 결과를 일반화시키는 것에 대하여 통계적인 문제가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 사후 SQ(70.61±17.671)는 사전 SQ(63.81±17.433)보다 (t=-7.209, p<.001)수준에서 통계적으로 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타나, 지적장애 아동의 사회성은 신체활동 참여에 의해서 향상되는 것을 알 수 있었다. SQ의 하위 영역에서는 첫째, SH의 하위 영역인 자조식사(SHE), 자조용의(SHD)와 L, C, SD, S의 능력은 신체활동 참여에 의해 실제적으로 향상되었다. 둘째, SH의 하위 영역인 자조일반(SHG), O의 능력은 신체활동 참여에 의해 통계적으로는 유의하게 향상되었으나, 실제적인 향상이 나타나지는 않았다.
Abstract
This study aims to confirm the practical relation between intellectually disabled children's physical activity and their Sociality, regarding both the test result of Sociality and low item difficulty. Adaptive Physical Activity Institute, supported by the Seoul Metropolis, runs a physical activity program for those with intellectual disability and had participants as follows: 62 children(53 males and 9 females), 39 educable mentally retarded, 23 trainable mentally retarded, life age of 6.35(±1.539). Social Maturity Scale(SMS) was used as a test tool, and two clinical examiners tested them through a one-on-one talk with children and their parents before and after participation in physical activities. The statistical power(1-β) was analyzed with establishing ES=.50 and α=.05; the average difference of Social Quotient(SQ) before and after participation in physical activity program and the life age mean difference of those, who can exercise low-level six areas such as Self Help(SH), Locomotion(L), Occupation(O), Communication(C), Self Direction(SD), and Socialization(S), was analyzed with Paired-t Test. As a result, 1-β was found to be 0.972, so it showed no statistical problem to generalize this result. the post-hoc result of SQ(70.61±17.671) was appeared relatively higher than the priori result of SQ(63.81±17.433), so it proved that the Sociality of intellectually disabled children got improved through participating in physical activities. In lowest range(domain) of SQ, first of all, the abilities such as Self-Help Eating(SHE) and Self-Help Dressing(SHD), Locomotion(L), Communication(C), Self Direction(SD), Socialization(S) were improved substantially. Secondly, Self-Help General(SHG) and O got better statistically through the participation in physical activities, but not substantially.
