Abstract
This study aimed to systematically analyze 13 domestic academic papers on disabled alpine skiing published between 2000 and 2024, examining the distribution by year, characteristics of academic journals, research subjects and methods, topics, and key findings, and to propose future research directions. Literature was collected through major academic databases in Korea (RISS, KISS, DBpia), and 13 articles were finally selected through a three-stage screening and exclusion process based on the PRISMA flow diagram. The analysis was conducted based on six categories: publication year, journal, research subject, research method, research topic, and research findings. The results revealed that research in Korea was concentrated in certain periods and exhibited a discontinuous pattern. While most studies focused on equipment-oriented technological development, research on diverse disability types and practical actors (e.g., coaches, guide-runners, administrators) was severely lacking. Research methods were predominantly qualitative, with quantitative and mixed-method approaches being extremely limited. In addition, research topics were heavily concentrated on equipment development and participation effects, whereas practical themes such as training strategies, performance enhancement, and psychological intervention were addressed only sporadically, showing low interconnection and applicability. These findings indicate that existing research has not adequately reflected the complexity and professionalism of disabled alpine skiing and lacks practical relevance and applicability. Accordingly, this study suggests securing diversity in disability types, expanding practice-oriented research with a participant-centered approach, adopting integrated designs encompassing technology, training, and psychology, and introducing convergent research models applicable in practice. This study is significant in that it diagnoses the current status and limitations of disabled alpine skiing research in Korea and provides foundational data to strengthen the academic base and promote field application, especially in a context where the very existence of the sport is at risk.
