Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explain the biblical interpretation's characteristics of the Anabaptist, which was called the radical Reformation in the 16th-century Reformation movements, based on Menno Simons, one of the greatest leaders of the movement. This article attempts to compare Menno's biblical interpretation with that of Luther-centered magisterial Reformation in order to reveal characteristics and positions of Menno's anabaptist interpretation. Although it is true that the study on Menno and Mennonites has actively developed in the Mennonite circle in the 20th century, it can be said that the study of the methodology of biblical interpretation is relatively poor. As a long tradition of Protestant history, it is easy to simply ignore the Mennonites as biblicists with the poor theological basis or to underestimate them as unrealistic idealist groups, considering them as similar groups as the early violent enthusiasts. However, this study, which focuses on Menno's interpretation of the Bible, aims to broaden the horizon of understanding on Protestant Reformation by examining the peculiarity and consistency of Menno's interpretation of the Bible.
