In this study, the vocabulary characteristics of middle and high school students has been analyzed. The research materials are the recording of actual dialogues produced by 192 students. Our research is focused on the distribution of lexeme and the frequency of word forms in the respect of parts of speech. The result of this study can be summarized as follows. The analysis on the distribution of lexeme showed the range of noun class was very wide compared with other word classes. It seems to be a characteristic of spoken language apart from written language. The analysis on verbs or modifiers showed a characteristic spoken language usage as well.
