名詞修飾「べき」の意味特徴

本稿では、新聞に現れる用例をもとに、名詞を修飾する「べき」の意味機能を分析した。 まず、「べき」で表されている事態が実現されているか否かによって分析した結果、実現していない場 合は「理想的」「必要」「当然」「可能」「忠告」などの意味を表し、実現されている場合は前後の文脈を対比 させ、現実を非難するなどのニュアンスが生じると述べた。 また、慣用的に使われる「べき」は状態の程度を強調したり、比喩するなどの意味機能があることも提 示した。 さらに、「べき」が修飾する名詞の特徴を分析した。名詞の特徴としては「漠然とした状況」「理想的な 未来」「道徳」「責任感」にかかわる名詞が現れることも確認できた。 最後に、「べき」に前節する述語の特徴についても調べた。その結果、主に動詞が現れ、形容詞は現れ ないことを示した。 以上の分析から、名詞修飾「べき」は非名詞修飾の場合と同様、「当為性判断」を表すが、連語としての 意味など非名詞修飾と異なる意味特徴もあると述べた。
Abstract
This study analyzes the meaning and function of bekinone from the examples in the newspaper. First, this study reveals the proposition has not been realized in the real world, beki represents “ideal”, “necessary”, “deontic”, “possible”, and “advice”. But the proposition has been realized, beki contrasts the sentences before and after, and is used for criticizing the real world. Second, this paper also explains that beki used as a collocation has meaning and function to emphasize degree and metaphor. Third, this paper analyzes the characteristics of nouns of bekinone. The result shows that the examples examined in this study were nouns related to ‘unspecified things’, ‘ideal future’, ‘morality’, and ‘responsibility’. This study points out that the predicate of the proposition of beki is mainly used by verb, but cannot be used by adjective. From the above analysis, this study claims that the basic meaning of bekinone is “deontic judgement”. But, bekinone also has different semantic features such as collocations compared with beki nonnone.
