The purpose of this study is to evaluate the appropriateness of example sentences in the Korean Basic Dictionary, focusing on grammar and expression entries. This study selects beginner-level grammar items from the International Standard Korean Language Curriculum and analyzes their corresponding example sentences in the Korean Basic Dictionary. The analysis examines whether these examples effectively aid learners’ understanding of grammar and reflect actual discourse situations. The results indicate that the example sentences help learners grasp grammatical concepts and enhance learning by demonstrating real-life language use. However, some examples need difficulty adjustments to match learners’ proficiency levels, and more intuitive contextual support is required for beginners. This study highlights the potential of Korean Basic Dictionary examples for practical application in Korean language education and provides insights for improving learner-oriented Korean dictionaries.
