초록
The purpose of this study is to broaden the intersection between social dialects and grammar education by examining educational discourse trends on social dialects and exploring ways to expand social dialect education within grammar instruction. To accomplish this aims, the study first reviews social dialects and the discussions surrounding their education. Research on social dialects has been conducted primarily in relation to gender, occupation, and culture, with particular emphasis on discussions concerning language attitudes. Studies on social dialect education have partially explored its application in Korean language education, critical perspectives in grammar education, and lexical aspects. Subsequently, the study analyzes how social dialect education has been integrated into the Korean language curriculum. The content of social dialect education has been presented explicitly in relation to lexical aspects and implicitly in relation to the diversity of speech and the concept of discourse. Based on this, the study proposes directions for expanding social dialect education in grammar instruction through three categories below. First, it emphasizes the need for grammar education that addresses various phenomena of social dialects. Second, it highlights the necessity of exploring social dialects from a critical language education perspective. Third, as a new phenomenon of social dialect education, the study calls for the consideration of generative AI language as a subcategory of social dialects.
