An Analysis of the Educational Content of the Korean Sentence Ending `-neunde' in Korean Language Textbooks Published in China -Focusing on Semantic and Pragmatic Functions-.

This study aims to analyze the semantic and pragmatic functions of the Korean sentence ending `-neunde' presented in Korean language textbooks published in China, and to provide implications for setting pragmatic educational contents in textbooks. Firstly, the semantic/pragmatic functions of the sentence ending `-neunde' are reorganized by reviewing Korean dictionaries and previous studies. Then, based on the contents of Korean grammar textbooks and previous studies related to `-neunde', six functions are selected for education. Next, the realization of the semantic/pragmatic functions of the sentence ending `-neunde' in six Korean language textbooks published in China is analyzed. Based on the analysis, the problems in textbooks are divided into macro and micro problems. Accordingly, suggestions are made for setting the sentence ending `-neunde' in the textbooks, including 1) presenting the connective ending `-neunde' first, 2) discussing the educational measures of the six functions, 3) providing clear and appropriate grammar explanations, and 4) presenting specific and realistic discourse situations.
