This study aims to investigate the acoustic characteristics of Korean word-initial and word-medial plosives produced by intermediate-level Chinese female learners of Korean. To achieve this, the acoustic properties of plosives produced by 34 intermediate-level Chinese female learners of Korean were analyzed, and features according to pronunciation accuracy were identified. The findings suggest that the learners produced word-initial plosives relatively accurately, but often replaced word-medial lenis plosives with fortis plosives. The accurately produced medial lenis plosives exhibit characteristics such as lower pitch compared to other phonation types, shorter vowel duration than word-medial fortis plosives, and shorter closure duration (CD) values compared to word-medial aspirated and fortis plosives. Therefore, the study suggests that learners should be taught to produce lenis plosives with a lower pitch and shorter following vowel duration not only in word-initial positions but also in medial positions.
