Abstract
The aims of literature education is the development of literary competence. So that, it is important to conduct the response of reader broadly and refinely. The discussin, talk about literary text, is the most complex and ideal approach of the desirable reception to the reader. But the monograph is rarely to find. This study about the importance of literature discussion is based on the literary theories and theories of development in educational discourse. The reader response theory in literary theory and the constructivism of Lev Vygotsky are the extraordinary outcomes. The meaning of literary text resides in not the text, but the process of meaning making between the reader and the text in the reader response theory. And the development of students' cognitive and affective competence is dependent on the interaction between the teacher and the student or among the students. This monograph is based on these studies. The objective of this study explored the various methods and the basic stances of literature discussion. When holding a discussion about literary text, teachers make a series of dicisions, including what stance the discussion will take, who will have interpretive authority, how turntakig will be controlled, and who will choose the topics of the discussion. A recent curriculum of literature instruction should be change from the correct meaning to the students' meaning making through this exploration. And methods of discussion is divided into preliminary writings and genuine discussion. As a result of this exploration, preliminary writings are to be the scaffolding for the literature discussion.
