초등학생 독서 시간의 종단적 변화가 중학교 1학년의 진로성숙도 및 자아개념에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 초등학교 5학년에서 중학교 1학년 까지의 시기에서 독서 시간, 자아개념, 진로성숙도의 변화 양상을 살피고, 다변량 잠재성장모형을 통해 독서 시간이 자아개념을 매개변인으로 진로성숙도에 미치는 종단적 매개효과를 비교 분석하는 데에 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 서울교육종단연구 2년차(초5)부터 4년차(중1)까지의 3.659명을 대상으로 3년 간의 자료를 활용하여 다변량 잠재성장모형 분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 초등학교 5학년 시기의 주당 독서 시간은 같은 학년에서 자아개념 및 진로성숙도에 긍정적인 효과가 있었다. 그리고 학년이 올라가면서 독서 시간이 상상할 경우 자아개념과 진로성숙도 역시 동반하여 상승하는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 점은 초등학교 고학년 시기 및 중학교 진학 시기에 독서 시간을 확보하는 것이 자아개념 발달 및 진로성숙도 향상에 기여할 수 있음을 시사한다.
Abstract
This study examines the changes in reading time, self-concept, and career maturity from the 5th grade of elementary school to the first grade of middle school. The purpose of this study is to comparatively analyze adverse mediating effects. To this end, a multivariate potential growth model analysis was conducted using data for 3 years targeting 3.659 people from the 2nd year of the Seoul Education Longitudinal Study (Elementary 5) to the 4th year (Middle 1). As a result of the study, the weekly reading hours in the fifth grade of elementary school had a positive effect on self-concept and career maturity in the same grade. In addition, it was confirmed that self-concept and career maturity also increased when reading time was imagined as the grade went up. This suggests that securing reading time during the upper elementary and middle school years can contribute to the development of self-concept and improvement of career maturity.
