부모의 학업적․정서적 지지와 진로의식 성숙도의 관계에서 자아개념의 매개효과: 4년도에 걸친 종단 변화 검증

초록

본 연구는 서울교육종단연구(SELS)의 3∼6차년도 종단 자료를 활용하여 학습자가 지각하는 부모의 학업적․정서적 지지와 자아개념, 진로의식 성숙도의 예측 양상을 4년에 걸쳐 관찰하고자 하였다. 다변량 잠재성장모형(Multivariate Latent Growth Model) 분석 결과, 부모의 학업적 지지의 초기값은 진로의식 성숙도의 초기값을 정적으로 예측하였으나 진로의식 성숙도의 변화율은 부적으로 예측하였다. 또한 부모의 정서적 지지의 변화율은 진로의식 성숙도의 변화율을 정적으로 예측하였다. 부모의 학업적․정서적 지지의 초기값과 변화율은 학습자의 자아개념의 초기값과 변화율을 모두 유의하게 예측하였다. 학습자의 자아개념의 초기값은 진로의식 성숙도의 초기값과 변화율을 유의하게 예측하였고 자아개념의 변화율은 진로의식 성숙도의 변화율을 유의하게 예측하였다. 따라서 학습자가 지각하는 부모의 학업적․정서적 지지는 자아개념의 초기값과 변화율을 통해 진로의식의 초기값과 발달에 간접적으로도 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 이와 같은 결과를 통하여 학습자가 지각하는 부모의 지지와 진로의식 성숙도의 예측 관계에서 학업적 지지와 정서적 지지의 독립적인 예측 경로를 파악함과 동시에 자아개념의 매개효과를 확인하였다. 즉, 초등학교 6학년 시기의 부모의 지지와 자녀의 자아개념과 이후 이들의 발달양상은 초등학교 6학년 시기의 진로의식 성숙도를 예측할 뿐만 아니라 이후 진로성숙도의 변화율을 예측할 수 있는 중요한 변인임을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 학습자의 진로의식 성숙도의 발달을 위한 실제적인 교육적 방안을 제안하고 정책적 대안을 제시하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to observe the predictive patterns of parental academic and emotional support, self-concept, and career consciousness maturity, as perceived by learners using 4 years of data of SELS(Seoul Education ​Longitudinal Study). Multivariate Latent Growth Model analysis showed that initial values ​​of parental academic support statistically predicted the initial value of career consciousness maturity but predicted the change rate of career consciousness maturity as negative. Additionally, the change rate of parental emotional support statically predicted the change rate of career consciousness maturity. The initial value and the rate of change of parental academic and emotional support significantly predicted both the initial value and the rate of change of learners’ self-concept. The initial value of learner’s self concept predicted the initial value and the change rate of career consciousness in a significant manner, and the rate of change of self concept significantly predicted the change rate of career consciousness maturity. This study confirms the important mediating effect of self-concept while also highlighting the independent predictive path of academic and emotional support in the predictive relationship between the parental support, as perceived by the learner and career maturity. Based on these results, it was confirmed that parental support and the self-concept of sixth grade elementary school students were important predictors of career maturity in the sixth grade of junior high school as well as the maturity of career consciousness in the sixth grade of elementary school. Based on these results, we were able to propose a practical educational plan for the development of learner’s career consciousness and were also able to present a policy alternative.
