Abstract
This study defines the child narrator’s creative perception of the world, which replaces scientific causality, as imaginative causal relations and classifies their manifestations in children’s poetry into three categories—phenomenon, naming, and action—to examine how subjective experiences are poetically shaped. Imaginative causal relations refer to a cognitive, interpretive, and poetic process that reinterprets and connects phenomena through imaginative association rather than scientific reasoning, reflecting dongshim (childlike sensibility) as a unique way of explaining and reconstructing the world. By identifying imaginative causal relations as a central poetic principle and systematically categorizing their types, this study offers an analytical framework for understanding how dongshim generates and organizes meaning in poetic discourse. Furthermore, it argues that such imaginative structures can function as a key pedagogical strategy in children’s poetry education, fostering creative thinking and expanding literary imagination.
