Abstract

Poetry written by children is 'poetry written by children based on their nature'. Naturally, it presents their recognition of relation between self-consciousness and the world by language. Therefore, when a study on the child's internal world is conducted through his or her poem, 'language' is the relevant object of inquiry as well as 'ego' and 'the world', as direct elements involving in the poem. Of course, an inquiry into 'language' in poetry written by children is the same as a research on children's recognition of relation between self-consciousness and the world. Language in poetry is a symbol of recognition of relation between self-consciousness and the world. However, this study focused on children's psychology of language, which could be called internal psychology, through poetry written by children rather than studied appearance of linguistic phenomena. It was because that the study was intended to provide the grounds to establish a learner-centered writing program, examining 'children's nature' in 'children'. The researcher believed that the identity of elementary education or the professionalism of elementary school teachers did not depend on 'the knowledge of subjects', but depend on the understanding of 'children'. The study examined the changes and types of poetry written by children in terms of conversation, and observed their internal psychology on 'deviation in normative sentences or its patterns' through the poetry.
