1960~70년대 한국사회의 내적 갈등과 동력은 ‘민족’이념을 둘러싼 헤게모니 쟁탈전의 양상을 보여준다. 본고는 순수－참여논쟁에서의 현실인식 강조가 어떻게 ‘민족문학론’으로 이어지며, 또 1960~70년대 민족문학론에서는 민족이념과 국가주의 이데올로기가 문학의 장 내부에서 어떻게 형성되고 내면화되었는지를 살펴보았다. 보수진영의 민족문학론은, 서구와의 배타적 차별성이나 무조건적인 우리 민족의 우월성을 강조함으로써, 민족/국민을 근대화의 동원대상으로 인식한 지배이데올로기를 근거로 삼고 있었다. 또 이들의 민족문학론은, 전통을 민족주의의 핵심요소로 삼고 있는 지배 이데올로기를 바탕에 두고 있었다. 이와는 달리 진보진영의 민족문학론은 민족적 현실인식을 바탕으로 삶의 주체로서의 민족개념을 강조하는 저항이데올로기로 작용했다. 그러나 진보적 민족문학론 역시 민족주의를 신성불가침의 것으로 인식하는 경향을 보였다. 이처럼 ‘민족’과 ‘국가주의’는 긍정적 면에서든 부정적 면에서든 우리 문학을 형성해온 가장 중요한 이념적 요소임을 확인할 수 있다.
Abstract
During the years of 1960s’ and 1970s’, Korean inner social conflict and dynamic was shown as the phenomenon of the hegemony struggle for the ideology of nation. This essay studied on process of that the emphasis on reality recognition developed into the theory of national literature and nation ideology and statism ideology formed and internalized in the field of literature of this era. The conservative theory of national literature emphasized on the exclusive nationalism and absolute superiority of Korean nation and was associated with the governing ideology which regarded the nation/the people as the object of the modernization. And the conservate theory was based upon the governing ideology which recognized tradition as a critical element of nationalism. On the other hand, the progressive theory of national literature functioned as an opposite ideology since it emphasized on recognition of national reality and understanded the nation as the subject of life and modernization. However, the progressive theory also had the tendency to understand the nationalism as the sacred and inviolable. As mentioned above, the nation and the statism were identified as important ideology elements of the history of Korean literature on both positive and negative aspects.
