교사의 소명의식에 대한 비판적 문헌 고찰

본 연구의 목적은 국내 교사의 소명의식에 대하여 논의된 문헌을 종합적 으로 검토하고 비판적으로 분석함으로써 그간의 연구 동향을 조망하고, 기존 소명의식에 대한 관점에 대한 논의와 재해석을 통해 대안적 관점과 방향을 제시하여 교사의 소명의식에 대한 새로운 학술적 시도를 위한 발 판을 마련하는 것이다. 본 연구는 교사의 소명의식에 대한 비판적 고찰을 위해 관련 문헌을 체계적으로 종합하여 최종적으로 선정된 40편을 분석 하였다. 첫째, 교사의 소명의식에 대한 연구는 2010년대 초반부터 현재까지 연구가 수행되었으며, 다양한 학교급 수준에서 양적연구를 중심으로 이루어진 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 교사의 소명의식에 대하여 종교적인 관점을 넘어 일터 맥락에서 형성되고 변화될 수 있는 상태라는 관점이 지배적이었다. 셋째, 소명의식은 개인, 관계, 직무, 환경 등 다양한 측면에서 관련 변인과 영향 관계를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 개인 및 직무 측면에 해당하는 변인과의 연구가 주를 이루었다. 넷째, 본 연구는 기존 논의를 확장하기 위해 소명의식으로서의 일에 대한 이론, 자원보존이론, 자기결정성이론을 기반으로 교사의 소명의식에 대한 대안적인 이론적 모형을 도출하였다. 끝으로, 본 연구는 교사의 소명의식에 대한 이론적 및 실무적 시사점을 도출하였으며, 후속 연구에 대한 방향성을 제시하였다.
Abstract
This study aims to examine research trends on teachers’ calling by comprehensively reviewing and critically analyzing the existing literature. Furthermore, it seeks to provide alternative perspectives and directions through discussions and reinterpretations of conventional perspectives on calling, thereby laying the groundwork for new academic endeavors in teachers’ calling. This study systematically synthesized relevant literature for a critical review of teachers’ calling, and analyzed 40 selected papers. First, previous research on teachers’ calling has been conducted from the early 2010s to the present, primarily focusing on quantitative research across various school levels. Second, the prevalent view is that teachers’ calling is considered a changeable state within the workplace context, moving beyond religious perspectives. Third, this study has found that teachers’ calling has significant relationships with various variables in terms of individual, relational, job-related, and environmental aspects. In particular, previous research has mainly focused on variables related to individual and job-related aspects. Fourth, this study proposed alternative theoretical models of teachers’ calling based on the work as calling theory, conservation of resource theory, and self-determination theory. Finally, this study presents theoretical and practical implications for teachers’ calling and suggests directions for future research.
