Abstract
The purpose of this article is to examine the aspects of records on Beijing through the Beijing Local gazetteers. In addition, this article is carried out as a preliminary step to compare and consider the Beijing records located in the yeonhaengnok(燕行錄) in the late Joseon Dynasty. Following the previous article that examined the Beijing Local gazetteers during the Yuan Ming period, each of them had its own characteristics when comparing the three Beijing Local gazetteers written in the Qing Dynasty. The Rixia jiuwen was written in the early Qing Dynasty and did not fully reflect Beijing during this period, but it can be said that it was a text that organized and attempted to test extensively. The Rixia jiuwen kao, written more than a hundred years later, is based on the Rixia jiuwen reflecting the changed and developed Beijing, and carrying out a comprehensive report that has been somewhat incomplete in the Rixia jiuwen. As a result, many errors about Beijing have been corrected. The Chenyuan shilüe, written immediately after the publication of the Rixia jiuwen kao, is a text that was simply written for a simple understanding of Beijing, as revealed in the title, and is made useful for traveling. However, it was not only abbreviated, but also corrected errors that were not covered or still confirmed in the literature. Looking at the Beijing perception, which is the basis for the writing of these three texts, unlike the Rixia jiuwen, which is intended to be faithfully recorded, the Rixia jiuwen kao and Chenyuan shilüe sought to reveal the majestic landscape of Beijing, which is enjoying its prosperity.
