『신생』(新生)의 암중모색: ‘박탈’된 존재로 ‘공거’하기 - 박태순의 1970년대 작품을 중심으로

Abstract

This article aims to look back on the meaning of various literary or non-literary attempts and plans he attempted to make for Park Tae-soon’s works published in the mid and late 1970s, so-called “a search period” or “Transition Period.” First of all, it is worth remembering that the title of the book, which combines works from this period, was the same “『新生』”, which was released in 1974. Park Tae-soon, in the harsh period represented by the “Yushin Era,” imagined a desirable “new life” of Korea by seeking “Cohabitation” (though it is to distance itself from the existing popular theory) and embracing their lives through a series of works, including a series of “People in Oechon-dong,” which were erased from the developmentalist Korean land. In addition, Park Tae-soon criticized the existing historical consciousness and insisted that a new historical consciousness should be established through reinterpretation of past history and reading classics in order to create a transformative historical consciousness. The artist’s point is even more meaningful in that it allows us to reflect on what important values Korean society has missed and grown under the rapid development drive. In this regard, it can be pointed out that it is again confirmed that the present meaning of April 19, which was disappearing into history without being properly meaningful, was tried to be evoked through the eyes of ‘non-existence’.
