Abstract

This paper primarily examines the foreign relations between Silla and Wa倭 during the 4th and 5th centuries, focusing on historical records related to Bak Jesang. It also investigates the process through which the Wa, descendants of immigrants from Dangun Joseon and Buyeo, separated from the Buyeo-based political and cultural sphere. Chapter 2 explores the international relations of the Buyeo people across the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese archipelago from the late 4th to early 5th centuries, and discusses Bak Jesang’s diplomatic activities in the context of the “Pan-Buyeo Tribal Alliance” theory. Chapter 3 analyzes the political and cultural separation of the Buyeo-origin Wa in the Japanese archipelago and the process of their departure from the ‘Heavenly Descent’ culture.
