중국해군의 서해 군사활동 증가 시사점 및 대응방안

Abstract

Recently, China's naval activities near the Korean Peninsula, especially in the West Sea, have been increasing the possibility of friction between the Chinese navy and the Korean navy. In particular, the number of naval vessels in the West Sea, the installation of maritime observation units, and the increase of flights in the Korean Air Defense Identification Zone(KADIZ) of Chinese military aircraft are expanding further in 2018. This expansion of Chinese forces, especially the Chinese navy, is believed to imply China's national intention and purpose, rather than the Chinese navy's own political and military plan, considering its political and military system. The purpose of this paper is to analyze China's intentions and devise appropriate countermeasures by raising the question 'What does the increase in military activity of the Chinese navy have in the West Sea?' To that end, we examined the changes in China's maritime strategy and the status of its naval forces and its implications for the Korean navy by analyzing how the Chinese navy is active in the West Sea and the intentions and purposes of their actions. In addition, we drew countermeasures based on the analysis results of these aspects of the Chinese navy's military activities, and presented national-level countermeasures, defense-level and more specific naval responses, considering that the Chinese navy's activities have national intentions and purposes.These countermeasures should be consistent and interlinked in terms of protecting national interests, from national level to naval response that requires actual military action.
